My first wine tasting experience (Pyrgos Vasilissis)

A few years ago, I went with a few friends for a tour at Pyrgos Vasilissis. We were guided around the Queen’s Tower Estate, saw the inside of the tower, the vineyards, the space where they make the wine (from the vineyard’s grapes), where they explained the whole process and finally, the wine tasting area.

We tasted five different wines, two reds and three whites. I myself used to be the red wine kind of person, but that tour changed me. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy a red every once in a while, but the white is amazing.

Each time we tried a wine, we were served a plate of food that paired well with it.

We went through the process of watching the color, smelling the aroma it gave off, tasting it and keeping it in the mouth to assess its flavors and finally pairing it with a food.

As I said before, that tour changed my preferences. My favorite wine of the five was Malagouzia.

It is without doubt something I will try again (I can already imagine myself at the vineyards of Tuscany, tasting wines).

Till next time!
